The #1 Rule of Buying Art: The Designer's 2/3 Rule
The most common mistake people make when buying art online is choosing a size that is too small for their wall. A small painting on a large, empty wall often looks lost and can make the room feel disjointed.
When in doubt, always size up. A larger statement piece instantly elevates your space, tying the room together and creating a luxurious, gallery-like aesthetic.
Interior designers recommend that your artwork should fill about 2/3 of the available wall space or the width of the furniture below it.
- Above a Sofa: If your sofa is approximately 100 inches wide, choose a painting at least 66 inches wide.
- Above a Queen or King Bed: Choose a piece between 60 and 80 inches wide.
- Grand and Empty Walls: Consider oversized artwork measuring 80 inches or more.
Painter's Tape Trick: Outline the dimensions on your wall with tape, step back, and judge the size within the complete room.
Important Note on Rolled Canvas
When you order an unstretched or rolled canvas, we include an additional painted margin around the artwork so your local framing shop has enough canvas to stretch it securely over a wooden frame.
How Would You Like Your Artwork Finished?
Each handmade painting is a masterpiece. Choose the perfect finish to showcase its beauty and elevate your space.

Floating Frame: The Gallery Standard
A floating frame leaves a slim visual gap between the canvas and the outer frame, creating a refined gallery presentation while keeping the full painted edge visible.
Stretched Canvas: Classic Gallery Wrap
Your painting is tightly stretched over a hidden solid wooden inner frame and arrives ready to hang without an outer decorative frame.
Special Note: When you are unsure which finish best matches your artwork, a natural wood frame is a versatile choice that complements most painting styles.

About the artist
Isabelle Laurent
Isabelle Laurent is a Canadian equestrian artist whose paintings focus on horses, riders, and the quiet connection between human and animal. Raised near rural riding communities in Québec, she developed an early appreciation for the structure, movement, and emotional presence of horses.
Her work combines simplified equestrian forms with modern Western design. Horses are often placed against muted olive, beige, brown, black, or terracotta backgrounds, allowing posture and silhouette to carry the composition. Her style is calm, minimal, and quietly powerful.
